Accident at an area intersection leaves best friends dead

Two young women, both in the early 20s, died in a serious car accident at San Diego intersection. Rescuers also took 6 other people to local hospitals, but their condition was not disclosed.

Police said that a person came through a red light at a high speed while the young women were stopped at an intersection. The force of the impact pushed the vehicle into several other cars.

Unfortunately, the vehicle burst in to flames and left the two women with severe burn injuries. They both succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at area hospitals.

The two women had been close friends since they were little girls. One had just graduated from college and was planning to continue her studies abroad, while the other was still in college.

Police did not say why the driver who caused this accident ran a red light and was speeding, but a friend of one of the victim’s families indicated that the driver may have suffered from a medical problem while driving.
